Australia went on to clinch the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title for the fifth time after defeating India in the tournament final held earlier this year.

Netflix’s latest documentary ‘Beyond the Boundary’ is a retrospective look at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 that was held between February 21 and March 8, earlier this year. The Australian women’s team went on to clinch the title for the fifth time after defeating India in the final showdown in Melbourne.

The tournament saw the emergence of new heroes in the women’s game, as more cricket fans than ever before switched on to watch the match.

Take for instance, the final match of the tournament, which was played on International Women’s Day in front of a record 86,174 spectators at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This was also a record year in terms of broadcast viewership and digital engagement.

‘FANS GET TO RELIVE THE ACTION’

Through the documentary, cricket fans will get a chance to relive all the action, excitement, and emotion from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. With absorbing visuals, commentary, and interviews in the build-up to and during the event, it captures the progress of the teams and the emotions of players as they discuss preparing for such a big event and turning points in different matches.

“The film captures all the action and drama from the tournament, which set new benchmarks for not just women’s cricket but all women’s sport and gives fans around the world the chance to relive one of the greatest ICC events we have ever staged,” ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney said.

The views of commentators and administrators, celebration of the crowds, behind-the-scenes, and dressing room footage, as well as pop star Katy Perry’s performances before and after the final match are all part of the film.
