Chanderkote, May 10: In its endeavour to aware students about different standards, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) today organised a standard writing competition and orientation programme in government polytechnic college Ramban at Chanderkote.

The programme was conducted by BIS resource person Raja Amir Karim Tantray whereas it was organised by BIS mentor Pawan Kumar. The principal of the college Vivek Mahajan delivered the welcome address and appreciated the role of BIS and polytechnic college in organizing the event.

During the orientation programme, Tantray threw light on BIS and its role of ISI marking of different products, Hallmark unique identification for gold, certification of electronic devices and BIS care application is checking authenticity products and gold.

The writing competition was held on the topic Ball pen and students penned down their ideas as what should be the standards for different types of pen. They enjoyed a new kind of experience of putting their thoughts into words and writing beyond the text book.

A total of 17 students of standard club of the college participated in the competition and top four were awarded cash prize on behalf of BIS. The first prize was won by Gulshan Nazia, second was won by Syed Basit, third by Sunil Kumar and consolation prize was won by Anjali Devi.

The programme was organised on the directions of Director BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) Tilak Raj and Ashish Diwedi supervised it.
