An agitated group of people heckled and manhandled the President of the state unit of BJP Sat Sharma at a meeting here on Friday , while expressing their anger over the party’s duplicity after having come to power .
The party workers , mostly drawn from the trading class and harassed by the demonetization and flip-flop of BJP on various issues, including the maltreatment to Jammu , asked a number of questions at a meeting which was presided over by Sat Sharma .
Sat Sharma was cornered on scrapping of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes that had hit hard the business of low income traders and vendors and also questioned why BJP was becoming a party to the government‘s decision to grant ex-gratia relief to Khalid elder brother of Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen commander Burhan Wani . There were also questions why West Pakistan Refugees were not being given full citizenship rights.
Finding himself in a hard spot, Sat Sharma tried to explain that there was a difference now as the party has moved from opposition to the ruling.
This remark further fuelled the tensions, the BJP president was manhandled and he had to leave in a huff.
