Jammu, September 18:

Pakistan is in a state of shock and giving vent to its unbridled  fury  over the cancellation of New Zealand  cricket team’s tour of the country. There have been charges  against the New Zealand that it is faking the  security threat, and Pakistan’s interior minister Abdul Rashid has gone to extent of claiming that it is a conspiracy.

The whole of  Pakistan is looking as to how and why this last-minute cancellation took place – hours before the first ODI was to be played at Rawalpindi .There are strong voices claiming that Pakistan is a safe country and all security arrangements had been put in place for the safety and security of Black Caps as the New Zealand’s cricket team is known . As many as 4,000 security personnel were deployed for the visitors and the hosts had also deployed special commandos of Pakistan army to guard the visiting team.

For any country  it is a matter of shock if a visiting team leaves the tour at the last minute  and that too citing the security threat . It places Pakistan in league with the countries like Afghanistan , Syria, Yemen and Lebanon  where no one likes to travel, leave alone the sporting teams. And for this Pakistan would have to look within to find answers why it is  being perceived as a dangerous place.

Pakistan that had  come to live in a world of its own after the fall of Afghanistan to its favourite Taliban  thinking that  all the nations need it more than any other country for settling the Afghan issue and ensuring regional peace and security is now seen as a place where  sporting teams dread to play . It is the real characterization of the security scenario of Pakistan .

How did it acquire this status in the recent months, though it is  a globally known fact, that it is epicenter of terrorism and its because of its  pursuit of terrorism that brought to it such a shame. For long , Pakistan had propounded a theory and peddled it endlessly that  Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan  or TTP  was  at the core of the terrorism in Kashmir. The TTP is the same terror group that had killed 150  innocent children and teachers of Army Public School , Peshawar , Pakistan, on December 16, 2014.. Now Pakistan’s Foreign Minister  Shah Mahmood Qureshi  come out with amnesty for the TTP. This shows the deep complicity of  Pakistani establishment with the terror group that killed their children, then where lies the fault of New Zealand in cancelling the tour?
