Jammu Feb 18: Emotional and patriotic fervour gripped a large audience at Govt college for women Gandhi nagar jammu here, where the Army veterans and martyrs family members of soldiers and civilians hailing from different parts of country were honoured by Martyr Captian Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust, Udhampur on sunday.

The programme was organised by Martyr Captian Tushar Mahajan Memorial Trust to commemorate the ,8th martyrdom day of martyr Captain Tushar (Shourya Chakra) in which 06 army veterans and 08 families of valiant soldiers and civilians were honoured.
The death anniversary of the Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan, who lost his life while fighting terrorists in the Pampore area of South Kashmir in 2016, was observed with devotion and patriotic fervour by the Trust and also paid tributes to other martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country.

Programme started with lighting of lamp by trust chairman Dev raj gupta and facilitation of guests by trust members Kalpana jamwal,Pratibha bhat Shewatketu singh jamwal ,Karun Raina and Deepanker gupta. Stage was managed by Irfan.

Lt-Gen (retd) Rakesh Sharma , Major-General (retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Major General sonika kapoor, Hony captain sansar chand (MVC) Col V. K sahi, (vir Chakra) ,Col V. K Mangotra,Mrs Asha gupta principal women College Gandhinagar were guest of honor pn the occasion while senior officers from the Army and police, and prominent citizens, NCC students attended the function.

Lt-Gen (Retd ), Rakesh Sharma , Major-General (retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwa along with other guests praised Captain Tushar Mahajan for his exemplary indomitable courage and valour and said he was the epitome of true Indian soldier who did not mind sacrificing his life for the country. He said it was imperative to honour national heroes, especially martyrs, who had laid down their lives for safeguarding the nation as it imbibed a sense of patriotism. He added that his courage, devotion and sacrifice would always be remembered and inspire everyone. He also appreciated the activities of the Trust.

Six Army veterans and eight family members of the martyrs from the Army, police and civilians from different parts of the country who were honoured at the function included Hony captain swaran singh chib 17JAKLI, Captain koushal kumar 13JAKLI, Captain Swaran singh 13JAKLI ,MAJOR General Sunita kapoor VSM, Hony captain Samsar Chand MVC, Havaldar Karnail Singh SM, Amit Koul, ASI Babu Ram J&K Police AC, Hav Neelem Singh S.M, Sepoy Nikhil Sharma 3 JAKLITRR, Naib Subedar Chuni Lal A.CVC/SM-8 JAKLI, Hav. Diler Singh Bhau-12 JAKLI and civilian martyrs Ruchir Kumar Koul from Bhaderwah and Pawan Kumar Sen from Kishtwar.

The documentaries of their valour were also showed.

Senior member of trust Vikas singh manhas of the Trust, highlighted various activities of the Trust and said the Trust was working in three fields, health, education and social sector. “In a span of eight years, we have tried to help a number of martyrs’ families, besides holding eye camps, honouring meritorious students and providing uniform and other stationery articles to poor and needy students,” Singh said. .
Dev Raj Gupta, Chairman of the Trust and father of martyr Capt Tushar Mahajan, presented the vote of thanks.
