Jammu, October 23: Omar Abdullah called on Union Home Minister during his first visit to Delhi after becoming chief minister last Wednesday.
Though the details of the meeting were not immediately available, it is understood that Omar discussed restoration of statehood to J&K, requesting Home Minister that time for restoration of statehood has come after greatly successful Assembly polls held in the most peaceful atmosphere.
It may be recalled that the Omar Abdullah cabinet had passed a resolution on Thursday last seeking restoration of the statehood.
Union Home Minister at the time of announcing abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state into two union territories of Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir, had assured that J&K would get its statehood back at an appropriate time. He had reiterated his statement during election campaign for the Assembly polls in J&K.
