RAMBAN, JUNE 06: As part of the district administration’s pre-monsoon preparedness measures, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan today visited vulnerable locations in Ramban town and its adjoining areas to assess preparedness and inspect ongoing developmental and protection works being executed by different departments.
He was accompanied by Executive Engineer PWD Ranjeet Singh; Executive Engineer Flood Control Zahoor Ahmed Shah; Tehsildar Deep Kumar; Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Surdeshan Jamwal and other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected protection works being undertaken at Sunari Nallah, Ashri Nallah, Bowli Nallah, Ward No. 1 Parihar Mohalla and other vulnerable spots prone to flooding and erosion during the monsoon season.
Reviewing the progress of works, the Deputy Commissioner directed Flood Control, Public Works Department and Municipal Council to take all necessary preventive measures to ensure the safety of public infrastructure and minimize risks associated with heavy rainfall. He stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned departments for effective management of vulnerable areas.
Emphasizing the importance of proactive planning, the DC directed the Executive Engineer Flood Control to personally inspect all vulnerable points across the town and adjoining areas and initiate protection measures on priority. He underscored that timely execution of mitigation works is essential to prevent loss of life, property and public infrastructure during the rainy season.
The CEO Municipal Council and Executive Engineer PWD were asked to initiate clearance of drains, culverts and other drainage channels before the onset of the rainy season to maintain smooth flow of rainwater and prevent incidents of waterlogging, flooding and damage to public infrastructure. He stressed the need for regular monitoring and timely desilting of drainage networks to safeguard life and property during the monsoon period.
