Reasi, October 20:

Salal Power Station dedicated a water tank with the capacity of 1.25 lacs liters to the Villagers of village Bidda which was built under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility-Sustainable Development Scheme (CSR-SD) at a cost of approximately Rs 12  lakhs with a view to providing sufficiently clean drinking water in Bidda village by Smt. Neena Devi, Block Chairman, block Arnas . On this occasion, in addition to NHPC officials, Sarpanch of local panchayat, Panches along with large number of villagers were also present. Earlier, only a water tank with a capacity of 30000 liters was used to supply water to the entire village. Whereas, due to lack of adequate power supply in the village the pumps used to fill the water tank could not run properly due to which the villagers were not able to get sufficient water. With the construction of this big tank, supply of water will be possible by automatic gravity.

It is pertinent to state here that the Bidda village has been adopted by Salal Power Station as “Adarsh Gaon” under the Corporate Social Responsibility-Sustainable Development scheme (CSR-SD) of NHPC under which a plan is proposed to undertake various works in the areas of health, sanitation, safe drinking water, education, etc. NHPC is constantly striving to provide various mass facilities to the populace of this village.  Many skill development workshops have also been arranged by Salal Power Station in Bidda village in the past. Apart from this, Swachhta  Abhiyan and free medical camps have also been organized by the Salal Power Station in Bidda village from time to time.

Due to Covid-19, the speed of the proposed works covered under CSR-SD was slowed down but nonetheless, out of the above, 125000 liters capacity big water tank has been completed and dedicated today. Besides, the construction work of 2.5 km road and retaining wall costing about Rs 105 lakhs is also in progress.  Other proposed works will also be started soon after the budget becomes available.
