SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 12:
Director General Fire and Emergency Services V.K. Singh today visited the families of the two deceased firefighters of the Department, Firdous Ahmed Bhat and Fayaz Ahmed Parray of Kulgam district, to condole their demise.
Both the officials sacrificed their lives while on duty when a snow avalanche hit Fire & Emergency Station Jawahar Tunnel on February 7, 2019.
The Director General expressed heartfelt condolence with the bereaved families and assured them that everything would be done to provide succour to them.
Besides, he assured to expedite all necessary documentation so that the ex-gratia relief and other financial benefits are provided to the next of kin of the deceased within the shortest possible time.
Singh also visited the spot where the incident had taken place and appreciated the rescue operation conducted by various agencies i.e. SDRF, JKP, NDRF, Fire & Emergency Services besides local inhabitants.
He further assured the fire service personnel who had a narrow escape in the incident to provide them with every kind of help.
SSP Kulgam Harmeet Singh Mehta, Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services Command Srinagar Bashir Ahmed Shah and other concerned accompanied the DG Fire Services.
