With an aim to promote the merit and instill the spirit of competition among the wards of Police personnel, Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarship of over rupees 15.97 lakh in favour of wards of retired police personnel and serving SPOs.

The meritorious scholarship has been sanctioned in favour of 253 such wards for their performance in the annual examination of class 10th and 12th during the academic session 2020-21. The scholarship has been granted out of the Central Police Welfare Fund under two different orders.

Under these orders, the scholarship of rupees 7200 each has been granted in favour of 68 wards of serving police personnel for securing above ninety percent marks in class 12th  and rupees 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of 85 wards for securing eighty to ninety percent marks in annual examination of class 12th during the academic session 2020-21. The grant is sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.

Also, the scholarship of rupees 6000 each has been granted in favour of 41 wards of serving police personnel for securing above ninety percent marks in class 10th and rupees 4000 each has been sanctioned in favour of 52 wards who have secured eighty percent to ninety percent marks in the annual examination of class 10th.

Similarly, the scholarship of rupees 7200 has been granted in favour of three ward of SPOs for securing above ninety percent marks in class 12th and rupees 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of three wards who have secured eighty percent to ninety percent marks in the annual examination of class 12th and rupees 4000 has been sanctioned in favour of one ward of SPO who secured 87% marks in the examination of class 10th during the academic session 2020-21.

The meritorious scholarship schemes of Jammu and Kashmir Police include scholarships for wards of serving/deceased/martyred Police personnel/SPOs for class 10th & 12th. Special reward is also given to the students who perform exceptionally in the college/universities and technical courses. Rewards are also given to the wards who crack competitive exams like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR etc.
