The J&K Dharmarth Trust have decided to release 50 per cent of the salary amount of employees for the period of agitation in three equal installments with effect from November 1, 2021. Besides, a 20 per cent Diwali bonus has also been announced for the employees.
In a statement issued to media today, Dr Karan Singh, Chairman Trustee of the Dharmarth Trust, said “The J&K Dharmarth Trust had initially decided to apply the principal of ‘No Work, No Pay’ as per statutory and legal precedent regarding the payment of salaries to the employees for the period of agitation (18.12.2020 to 20.04.2021). However, subsequent to the memorandum of Understanding dated 22.04.2021 and in pursuance of the mutually agreed terms therein the Trustees of the J&K Dharmarth Trust held a meeting on 08.08.2021 with the management to reconsider the payment of salaries to employees for the period of agitation. In this meeting after detailed discussion with all present, a committee was constituted to convey to the J&K Dharmarth Trust Employees Association that the Management would release 25 percent of the salary to the employees for the period when principal of ‘No Work, No Pay’ was applicable.”
“The Trustees are in receipt of the Minutes of the Meeting dated 15.09.2021 of this Committee regarding payment of salaries to the employees for the period of agitation i.e, 18.12.2020 to 20.04.2021. The decision taken on 08.08.2021 was not subject to any further negotiation or counter-proposal which has been the case in the proposal of the committee dated (15.09.2021),” he said.
“However, in view of the above-mentioned facts and the deep regret expressed by the Employees Association for their unpleasant behavior and the resultant adverse impact on the Trust during the agitation period the Trustees have decided on compassionate grounds to review their decision and a final reconciliatory gesture have decided to release 50 per cent of the salary amount for the period of agitation in three equal installments with effect from 01.11.2021. They hope that this gesture will be duly appreciated by the employees. In addition to this, I have announced a 20 per cent Diwali bonus to the Dharmarth Trust employees,” Dr Karan Singh said.
