Decides to take up string of works to improve facilities at V&F market

Horticulture Planning & Marketing department has decided to start a string of works in Udhampur district to improve market facilities there.


The department has decided to speed up the development of Farmer Market at Mand; Macadamisation along with lighting of Fruit & Vegetable Market Udhampur, repair of Entry Gate & Auction Shed; making provision of water facility and serving notice to non functioning allottees.
As per the department these decisions were taken by Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing J&K, Vishesh Paul Mahajan after conducting an extensive tour of the District, where he took stock of Departmental activities.


He was accompanied by Executive Engineer of the Department Virender Razdan, Assistant Director Marketing, Anayatullah Khanji, Assistant Director G&P Tehsin Iqbal Chib, Area Marketing Officer Udhampur, Ashwani Kumar, Technical PA Charan Kamal Singh and visited the identified site at Village Mand for upcoming Farmer’s Market on National Highway. He also interacted with the Sarpanch Mand, Arti Sharma who requested for speedy development of the proposed farmer market at Mand which will serve the farmers of adjoining villages as well. The Director Horticulture (P&M) gave a patient hearing to Arti Sharma & others and guided them to activate the women SHGs and adopt value-addition techniques for their produce. He further assured that in case of haulage issue, Refrigerator van service could also be provided with all possible marketing support from the department.


The Director HPM also visited Fruit & Vegetable Market Udhampur and chaired the meeting in which representatives of the Fruit & Vegetable Market Association Udhampur, Area Marketing Officer, and other staff members of Udhampur were present. Deliberating in the meeting he listened to various issues / problems of the Mandi where he solved some of them on the spot and assured timely redressal of the others.
