Day after gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started an investigation into his properties.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started an investigation into the properties of Vikas Dubey, who was killed by the Uttar Pradesh Police in an encounter in Kanpur on Friday, and the gangster’s associates.

Vikas Dubey was shot dead by police, who claimed he was trying to flee after the car carrying him on an overnight journey from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh turned turtle on an isolated stretch of the highway on the outskirts of Kanpur.

The law enforcement agency has sought details of Vikas Dubey, his family members and his associates from the Uttar Pradesh Police. The agency has also sought information on the current status of criminal cases against Vikas Dubey.

According to Madhya Pradesh Police sources, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) is also expected to visit Ujjain to investigate how Vikas Dubey reached the city from Kanpur.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday arrested two more people from Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior for harbouring two members of Vikas Dubey’s gang.

The police said Om Prakash Pandey and Anil Pandey gave shelter to Kanpur ambush accused Shashi Kant Pandey alias Sonu and Shivam Dubey for a few days before they moved to another hideout.

Om Prakash Pandey and Anil Pandey were arrested on Saturday morning from Gwalior. The two have cases registered against them in Kanpur, police said.
