Week long Road blocked at Nachlana has created a crisis-like situation in the entire Khari tehsil;

Banihal, April 11: National Conference (NC) leader and district president Ramban, Mir Sajjad Shaheen has expressed serious concern over the continuous blockade of Khari -Mahu road caused by a land slide and sinking of a portion of road at Nachlana near NH44 since last week.

Shaheen said that due to the blockade of only road linking entire Khari tehsil with rest of the district
has badly impacted the mobility and added to the miseries of the people besides creating a crisis-like situation in the area as people are immensely suffering particularly patients, students and traders during the Holy month of Ramadhan.
He said that the restoration work is going at a snail’s pace which needs to be expedited and restoration work taken up on war footing.

He also referred to the frequent blockade of Nachlana – Khari -Mahu road due to sinking of a major portion of the road at Hirnihal in Khari tehsil, saying no serious effort is being made to repair the road, Adding that the concerned agencies must formulate a comprehensive plan of construction of a permanent bridge or flyover at the sinking portion as people are facing enormous problems due to frequent closure of the only link road connecting the area rest of the district.

Shaheen further said that since the road has been blocked for the last one week there are reports about acute shortage of essential supplies besides other utility services in the government ration depots and the local market as well in various villages that include Khari-Trigam, Mahoo-Mangit, Kumbla, Buzla, Ari Marg, Kawna, Bawah, Ahma, Gadora, Nadika, Tanka, Akhran, Hijwa, Udhala, Chira, Khawra, Sarachi, Tanka, Chirwara and other villages.
He has urged the district administration to take immediate cognizance of this serious public issue as it is of utmost importance for the large number of local population living in the entire Khari tehsil.

Shaheen has also expressed profound grief over the death of Altaf Ahmed Naik R/O Khawra, Khari nephew of (NC) tehsil president Gulam Hassan Naik due to electrocution in Khari. He said that his untimely death has sent shock waves throughout entire Banihal constituency and this incident is a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by people in hazardous occupations. “The authorities must conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that the individuals responsible for the tragedy are held accountable, Shaheen added.

The NC leader said that the administration must do vulnerability assessment of the power supply lines in entire district Ramban especially in Khari and it’s peripheral areas and take corrective measures to prevent recurrence of such tragic accidents.
He also appealed to the district administration to provide adequate ex-gratia relief to the family of the deceased besides employment to at least one family member of the deceased person.
