The Three Weeks Refresher Course for University and college Faculty in Mathematical Sciences organized by Department of Statistics in collaboration with UGC- HRDC, University of Jammu concluded today at University of Jammu. on the occasion highlighted the importance of such courses and suggested practical training for teachers besides theoretical inputs for capacity building and academic development of teachers
Prof. K . S Charak President, Jammu University Teachers Association, the Guest of Honor on the occasion in his address talked about the Transcendental nature of Mathematics and its applications towards development of other fields in mathematical sciences and society.
A total of 24 faculty members from Mathematical Sciences of various Universities and Colleges from different parts of country participated in the course, under the Convenership of Prof. Pawan Kumar, Head, Department of Statistics, who welcomed the guests and highlighted that during the three weeks programme in all 72 sessions were conducted and experts in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Applications from University of Jammu, Central University of Jammu, SKUAST Jammu, BGSBU Rajouri, SMVDU Katra , PU Chandigarh, GNDU Amritsar, HPU Shimla and IIT Roorkee enlightened the participants with their expertise in concerned subjects.
Prof. Rahul Gupta, Director HRDC briefed the audience about the initiatives being taken to provide academic leadership training by the UGC-HRDC, University of Jammu in particular and by Ministry of Human Resource Development, in general. He also deliberated upon Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) being started under the SWAYAM platform.
Mr. Ranjit Kalra, teaching faculty, UGC-HRDC presented the formal vote of thanks on the occasion.Ms. Neha Sharma, Research Scholar of the Department of Statistics, conducted the proceedings of the valedictory programme.
Among others Prof P K Srivastava, Prof Dipanker Sengupta, Prof Lalit Sen, Dr V K Shivgotra and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
