Srinagar, October 14:

Two former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah today called on their successor and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti who was set free on Tuesday evening to enquire about her well-being

According to a tweet posted by Omar , he said that he and his father Farooq Abdullah “ called on Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba this afternoon to enquire about her well-being after her release from detention.”

She, he said, has already accepted Farooq Sahib’s invitation to join a meeting of signatories of Gupkar Declaration tomorrow afternoon.

The Gupkar Declaration released on August 22 had vowed to restore the statehood and the special status of J&K as it existed on August 4, 2019. It had called the August 5 decision of scrapping of special status of J&K by the Central Government as a black decision on black day.

It termed the decision as undemocratic, unconstitutional and arbitrary.

Mehbooba, too, in her opening statement on Tuesday evening, soon after her release, had promised to launch a struggle for the restoration of the August 4, 2019 status as also seeking a permanent resolution of the Kashmir issue, for which, she said thousands of people had sacrificed their lives.
