arrested for trying to bury his baby alive in Tujgari Mohalla Nowhatta Graveyard Locals handover father to Police

In a bizarre incident of its kind, a south Kashmir resident was arrested and later bailed out in the Nowhatta area old city where he was allegedly trying to ‘bury’ his infant alive on Monday afternoon.

The person was identified as Manzoor Hussain Banyari, son of Misri Banyari, a resident of Shamsipora Shopian.

Sajad Ahmad Shah, SP north City, informed that the said person was caught by the locals and handed over to PS Nowhatta after he was trying to abandon his infant. “The baby had some congenital deformities and the said person told police that he was very poor and could not treat his newly born baby. The case stands registered in police station Nowhatta under FIR number 72/2018 under section 317 RPC,” Shah said.

The said person was later released on bail and the baby, according to police, has been shifted to hospital for treatment.

The baby, according to reports is admitted in the GB Pant hospital. His mother is recovering in the Lal Ded hospital where she gave birth to the child.
