Jammu, May 6: After few hours of lull, contact has been established with hiding militants in the ongoing Rajouri encounter.

The contact was established during midnight and firing resumed.

Giving details, Jammu based defence spokesman Lt. Col. Devender Anand said, “In the ongoing operation in the Kandi Forest in Rajouri sector, contact has been established with terrorists at 01:15 am on 06 May 2023, and firing started.”

So far five Indian Army soldiers have been killed in the encounter and one Army officer is also injured who was shifted to command hospital in Udhampur.

These hiding militants are said to involved in an ambush on an Army vehicle in Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
