Srinagar, March 07: Today-March 7 is a historic day for Kashmir . Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Srinagar first time since Article 370 abrogation in August 2019 , and since his last visit to this capital city in February 2019 , much has changed . The biggest change is in the situation and the narratives .
This day and the visit have many firsts.
Kashmiris are keen to hear as to what would PM say with regard to their land, the constitutional status of which was changed in August 2019 , and what roadmap he has in mind for the jewel crown of India
There is absolutely no doubt that the physical situation has improved . General strikes, stone throwing and the roar of bombs and bullets has fallen silent , there also is a connect with the rest of the country , especially through the rail network ,which is soon to get connected to Jammu , making the dream of Kashmir to Kanyakumari come true
The firsts of the visit are

  1. PM is visiting Kashmir first time in over five years , especially after the momentous decision of abrogation of Article 370 , which has changed the environment in the Valley to the extent that the people are moving fearlessly.
  2. It is first time that a public rally is being held at Bakshi stadium , no other leader in the past has addressed public rally in the sprawling stadium which has seen best of idea of India on national festivals – Republic and Independence Days, and also witnessed swooshing of rockets on these occasions in the first decade of militancy in 1990s, the darkest phase in Kashmir’s history.
  3. Prime Minister Modi will launch projects worth Rs. 6400 crore, in agriculture and tourism sectors .
  4. BJP expects crowd of more than one lakh in the stadium.
