Jammu, April 5: Five youth drowned in a water tank in Moovarasampet area near Keelkattalai in south Chennai of Tamil Nadu this morning after they had gone to take part in a festival.

The dead bodies of all the five youth, aged between 18 to 23, were retrieved from the water tank and were sent to hospital for further process.

Giving details, police said that the tragedy took place this morning when these youth had gone to participate in Theerthavari festival of the Dharmalingeshwarar temple. “On being alerted, the Palavanthangal police rushed to the site, along with Fire and Rescue Services personnel. All the bodies were retrieved from the tank and sent to the Government Chromepet Hospital for post-mortem examinations,” police said.

These youth were identified as Raghavan of Madipakkam, Yogeswaran of Keelkattalai, and Vanesh, Raghavan and R. Surya of Nanganallur.

After this incident, police and temple administration were examining the water tank to ascertain whether anyone else is still inside or not.
