Jammu, Dec 27:
Following complaints that milk is supplied in rusted containers at Srinagar City, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Hilal Mir conducted surprise check and destroyed around 50 containers of milk.
A team of Food Safety Officers headed by assistant Commissioner, Mir laid a naka in the wee hours at parimpora in Srinagar City. On the basis of preliminary test conducted on spot by mobile food testing lab more than 10 quintals of milk were destroyed and 16 samples were lifted on spot.
Around 50 containers which were rusted inside were also destroyed. The milkmen were directed to ferry milk only in food grade containers otherwise strict action under FSS Act shall be initiated against them.
Meanwhile, Food safety wing of Drugs and Food Control organization prepared 25 challans against various food Business Operators for manufacturing and selling substandard and misbranded food articles.
