Jammu, June 27:

The news of demise of former president of J&K High Court Bar Association and senior lawyer BS Slathia came as a shock to Jammu as he has taken part in many agitations for the social and regional causes.

Slathia, 70 had literally become a face for almost all agitations that rocked the governments in recent years. He passed away at the PGI Chandigarh on Saturday early morning. Slathia is survived by a wife, two daughters and a son.

He had remained president of the J&K High Court Bar Association for three times. He was considered to be close to senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. He also led an agitation demanding AIIMS for Jammu. The prominent agitations in which he became a prominent face was for demand of CBI inquiry in Kathua gang-rape and murder case of a minor.

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has expressed shock over sudden demise of senior advocate and former President of J&K High Court Bar Association, BS Salathia.

In a condolence message, JKAP expressed sympathy with the bereaved family members and prayed to God for courage to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.

The JKAP leaders termed the demise of senior Advocate BS Salathia as loss of Jammu’s strong voice who remained vocal on various issues being faced by the common people.

“He was a strong voice of Jammu. His passing away will not leave a void in our lives. He represented all sections of society,” said the JKAP leaders.

The JKAP leaders said that “He belonged to Samba district where he initially started his practice as a lawyer. Later, he shifted to Jammu. He established his identity as a known voice of the lawyers and public in general. His demise has shaken the legal fraternity.”
