Senior Congress leader  and until recently  leader of opposition in  Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad is arriving  on a three-day visit of Jammu on Friday to fulfill the long-pending demand of the people and party workers for such a visit.

During this visit, which  is coming at a time when J&K is grappling with a number of complex issues  in the wake of the abrogation of the Article 370 and loss of statehood, he is likely to throw light on his roadmap to address the crucial issues confronting J&K.

Several other senior Congress leaders  Kapil Sibal and Anand Sharma, will also be visiting and joining him at a number of functions that he is scheduled to attend.

As  per  sour es, soon after his arrival  on Friday afternoon, Azad will   meet his party workers, public deputations. On Saturday he will attend, the Ravi Das Jayanti function and before concluding his visit on Sunday, he will address a function at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust.

Sources said that this is Azad’s first visit to Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, after the August 5 decisions of the Government of India  to end the specials tatus of the J&K and division of the state into two Union Territories  of J&K, and Ladakh.

Azad has made passionate pleas to restore the special status and statehood to J&K  during his speeches in the Parliament and outside , and he pointed point wise infirmities in the August 5, 2019 decisions.

It may be recalled that he was among the top leaders to visit Kashmir Valley in the aftermath of the August 5 decisions and  had pleaded for lifting of the restrictions  on movement and communication of the people.
