Bengaluru , May 21: PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti slammed BJP for hijacking the G20 events across the country , particularly in the Kashmir Valley , instead of making nation-centric . She also dismissed the notion that she’s opposed to the G 20 events . “ I am not opposed to the G 20 . It should have been a national event, but the BJP has hijacked it.
The G 20 logo is devoted to saffron party’s election symbol , “ Lotus.”. This, in itself has undermined sanctity of the events . “ Moreover, I believe that India’s role lies in promoting regional cooperation through SAARC ( South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation). The SAARC has become defunct because of the hostility on Kashmir that India and Pakistan have not been able to unlock .
Mehbooba Mufti said that the Kashmir valley has been converted into “ open air prison”., and on the eve of G 20, it is still worse. “ It is now Guantanamo Bay “, the dreaded prison in which the US lodged and tortured Al-Qaeda terrorists. She also reiterated that she won’t contest Assembly polls till Article 370 is restored.
