Jammu, September 21: State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed the Assistant Director FCS&CA (Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs)Udhampur to take action against its officials at Galiota area in Udhampur for distribution of rations to the consumers besides charging extra money of Rs. 2.50 per kg from the consumers as carriage charges.

Adjudicating upon the complaint of Rattan Singh of Galiota, Udhampur, alleging therein gross violation of norms, committed by the officials of FCS&CA Department Galiota in distribution of rations to the consumers of the area besides charging extra money of Rs. 2.50 per kg from the consumers as carriage charges, the State Vigilance Commission has asked  Assistant Director FCS&CA Udhampur to take action  in the matter in light of the report already submitted by Addl Deputy Commissioner (DVO) Udhampur and submit Action Taken Report (ATR) to the Commission early.

Earlier, taking cognizance of a complaint, the Commission had asked DVO (District Vigilance Officer), Addl Deputy Commissioner) Udhampur to get the matter enquired after verification and submit a report to the Commission.

The report submitted by DVO, pinpointed discrepancies in ration distribution to the consumers. The report revealed that instead of salesman  the sale of ration items was being conducted by private persons viz Sarpanch of the area and another individual. The assistant director has been asked to ensure action under law against the officials and others involved in the racket.
