Seeks extension of stoppage time for Vande Bharat Express in Jammu

JK News Today

Jammu, Nov, 09: Gaurav Gupta, former General Secretary of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, today called on the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and submitted a memorandum of demands, urging the government to increase its focus on Jammu’s tourism potential.
In his memorandum, Gupta highlighted that Jammu, with its unique charm and cultural significance, has much to offer, and it is imperative that we unlock its potential. He noted that Srinagar has transformed into a Smart City under the present administration’s leadership, and called for similar initiatives in the Jammu region.
Gupta outlined a number of specific requests for the government, including expediting the completion of ongoing Smart City projects in Jammu, increasing tourist footfall by promoting tourism through targeted campaigns and partnerships, publicizing the retreat ceremony at the Suchetgarh Border, and completing ongoing tourism projects such as the Tawi Barrage and Artificial Lake within a specific timeframe.
The former General Secretary of Jammu Chamber also called for enhancing the tourist appeal of Jammu Zoo with infrastructure upgrades and educational programs, preserving the Mubarak Mandi Complex through expedited restoration and maintenance works, installing prominent hoardings at key locations to raise awareness about Jammu’s tourist attractions, and establishing a tourism circuit to provide a comprehensive experience for visitors.
Gupta also requested an extension of the stoppage time for the Vande Bharat Express at Jammu Railway Station to improve passenger experience and safety. He said the current stoppage time of two minutes is insufficient for passengers, particularly elderly passengers, to board and disembark the train safely and comfortably.
“Extending the stoppage time to four minutes would allow passengers, especially elderly passengers, to board and disembark the train without undue haste or stress. This would improve the overall passenger experience and ensure the safety and comfort of all travelers. I urge you to consider my request and implement a four-minute stoppage time for the Vande Bharat Express at Jammu Railway Station,” he added.
The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues putforth by Gaurav Gupta and assured to look into the matter for early redressal.
