Jammu, January 10: A day after the expiry of the term of the panchayats across J&K on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir has appointed block development officers or BDOs as administrators for panchayat halqas across the UT.
The order of BDOs serving as administrators of Panchayat halqas will be valid for six months. The order was issued by Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Shahid Iqbal Choudhary .
The order gave the reason for these appoints as it was not possible to constitute panchayats immediately .
It amy be recalled that the panchayat elections were held in November- December 2018 and the panchayats were constituted on January 09, 2019 . The five-year term of the panchayats expired on January 09 , 2024.
