Srinagar, November 12: Apni Party has said that government employees whose General Provident Fund (GPF) withdrawals have been sanctioned are unable to receive their payments due to a cash crunch in the treasury. The Party has also mentioned that contractors who have completed various projects for government departments are suffering due to the non-payment of their bills.
In a statement issued here, Apni Party said that numerous government employees, whose GPF applications have been approved and withdrawals sanctioned, are unable to receive their payments due to the cash crunch in the treasury offices. Similarly, many contractors are being forced to go “from pillar to post” in an effort to have their payments released.
“Since the GPF represents the hard-earned savings of employees, and they are legally entitled to withdraw it whenever necessary, the administration must ensure the timely release of payments for sanctioned cases. Many of these employees are facing financial needs and require their payments as soon as possible. Similarly, numerous contractors who have completed works and projects for various government departments are facing delays in receiving their payments. Most of these contractors have borrowed money to complete their allotted work and are now in urgent need of payments. As this is an elected government, it is expected to address these public issues on a priority basis,” the press release said.
