A gunfight has erupted between militants and CRPF troopers in a building in Karan Nagar after the CRPF had foiled a bid by militants to storm the camp in the area early Monday morning.
Immediately after the militants were made to flee the CRPF camp, they took refuge in an abandoned building . It was during searches that the CRPF troopers were able to engage the hiding militants in a gun fight.
There are two militants hiding in the building, a CRPF spokesperson told J K News Today .
The CRPF camp is located near the SMHS hospital, which was a scene of the killing of two policemen and freeing of a Pakistani militant by Lashkar-e-Toiba militants last week . However, the police had arrested the facilitators of the militant Naveed Jatt’s walk to freedom .
CRPF spokesman Rajesh Yadav said that an alert sentry had earlier noticed suspicious movement of the militants.
