Udhampur, 16th December 2023: Happy Model Higher Secondary School , Udhampur joyously conducted its Annual Sports Meet, showcasing the vibrant spirit and talent of its students. The event, held on 16th December at the school Mahatma Gandhi sports grounds was a spectacular display of athleticism, sportsmanship, and team spirit as a mark of respect and celebrating victory of India in Indo – Pak Battle of 1971.
The Celebrations was graced by the presence of District Development Commissioner Ms Saloni Rai as the chief guest. Congratulating more than 150 medal winners of various classes in varied sports, she exhorted them to participate in various personality building activities to build well rounded personalities. She Motivated the students to adopt the surroundings of the school as a model of Swaccha Bharat Abhiyaan
The school management presented a cheque of Rs 21,000 to her as humble contribution towards Indian Red Cross Society, Udhampur.
The sports meet was presided by distinguished sportspersons from Udhampur . Ex President UMC Dr Yogeshwar Gupta . Retd Director Sports Sh Ashok Kumar Sharma , Jt Director SK Gandotra were guests of honour .
Distinguished members of the civil society . DPO Ashok Khajuria,, Pradeep Chopra, ZEPO Sushma ma’am , sportspersons Vikram Salathia, Sanjay Sharma and around 150 parents were special guests on the occasion .
The day kicked off with an enthusiastic opening ceremony, featuring a colorful parade of 600 athletes, the lighting of the Sports torch, and the school band setting an energetic tone. Students from various classes passionately participated in a range of events, from track and field to team sports, showcasing their prowess and dedication.
The Principal, Dr Mineesh Gulati expressed delight at the overwhelming participation and commendable sportsmanship displayed by the students. “Our annual sports meet is not just about competition; it’s a platform for our students to learn essential life skills like teamwork, perseverance, and discipline. The enthusiasm and energy exhibited today are a testament to the holistic development we strive for at Happy Model School.”
The event witnessed nail-biting competitions, with students pushing their limits to achieve personal and team goals. The parents and teachers present cheered on the participants, creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
The sports meet was compared by Loria Sharma and Ruhaani Gulati. Sports teachers Neha ma’am, Samta ma’am, Rohit, Makhan sir conductedsports proceedings. The sports pledge was conducted by Vice-Principal Dr Vikram Gulati along with coordinating the meet.
On the occasion trophies and medals to the outstanding performers and medals and citations were given to the guests by the worthy Deputy Commissioner.
The Principal thanked the teachers, staff, and parents for their unwavering support in making the event a success. Happy Model Higher Secondary School continues to prioritize physical fitness and sportsmanship as integral components of its education philosophy.
