Srinagar. May 13: Chief Electoral Officer P K Pole on Monday declared that Srinagar parliamentary constituency voting percentage today was the highest in last three decades.
He termed it as a success of democracy and attributed it to the enthusiasm of voters and heard work put up by the officers and police .
Srinagar recorded nearly 40 percent turnout of voters, which is many times higher than parliamentary elections held in the constituency since 1998.
Srinagar constituency was plagued by low voting percentage for the past over 30 decades.
There have been six parliamentary elections since 1998- included. The polling percentage was dismally low in 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 .
