Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced the decision of his Government to grant provincial status to Gilgit Baltistan, as per Pakistan media reports.
Khan who was in Gilgit today made this announcement at a time when his person and government are caught in massive controversies. The announcement is in violation of the international laws, as Pakistan has no right to grant provincial status to occupied territories.
Gilgit-Baltistan is illegally occupied by Pakistan. It is violative of the spirit and soul of the instrument of accession that Maharaja Hari Singh had signed acceding entire Jammu and Kashmir , which included Gilgit-Baltistan, to India.
India had been raising objections to the move of Pakistan to annex Gilgit-Baltistan as its fifth province .
