Oct 03, 2022 : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan survived an assassination bid on him by some assailant who fired at his long march on Thursday evening , in which he and several other {TI leaders and workers were injured .
Imran Kahn was targeted with bullets on the seventh-day of his long march that he had started from Lahore to reach Pakistani capital Islamabad to force the government to announce early elections . Pakistani media reported that the long march was at Wairabad town ‘s main crossing when the assailants fired on the marchers from two sides. One marcher died while several others were injured. Imran Khan received a bullet injury in his leg. He has been shifted to hospital. There, however, is no official word about his condition, though some of the PTI leaders have tweeted that Imran is safe.
The visuals from Pakistan TV channels showed two assassins firing at the long march. The firing triggered stampede , which also resulted in injury to many marchers . All the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
The police , it is stated by Pakistani media, have arrested the man who fired, but n0 details have been provided about the assassin and the motives .
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the attack, and asked the interior minister Sanaullah rana to get to the bottom of the things.
In Kashmir, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti condemned the “ cowardly attack.”
It is to be seen as to how the long march will proceed now onwards. There is no clarity about it at the moment.
