India reported 42,618 new coronavirus cases and 330 deaths in the last 24 hours ending at 8 am on Saturday. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases rose to 3.29 crore (3,29,45,907) and the death toll increased to 4.4 lakh (4,40,225). Over 30,000 (36,385) Covid patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of active cases to 4,05,681.
Of the new cases and deaths recorded since yesterday, Kerala recorded 29,322 cases and 131 deaths yesterday. Terming the Covid situation in Kerala ‘alarming’, the Supreme Court on Friday put interim stay on Kerala government’s decision to hold Class XI exam physically from September 6. The next hearing in the case is scheduled on September 13.
Kerala’s overall coronavirus cases have breached 41 lakh as its consistently high number of daily infections showed no signs of a let-up, with the state witnessing over 30,000 new infections on Thursday too.
