University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJPVF) Supported Institution Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu secured Joint highest Ranking Score in the Country. Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at University of Jammu was established in the academic year 2018-2019 under the patronage of Professor Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.IIC, University of Jammu has been working towards strengthening entrepreneurial culture in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh region, and the efforts of Team IIC, University of Jammu scored a perfect score of 4.0 under Institutions’ Innovation Council (2020-21) Annual Performance Result. Further University of Jammu has secured top rank amongst all the Universities and Institutions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Region for the period 2020-21.

The annual performance result was declared in a major event organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Chief Guest of the event was Prof. Anil D. Sahasra budhe, Chairman, AICTE and Guest of Honour was Prof. Rajneesh Jain, Secretary, UGC. The event was graced by top authorities from MIC, AICTE, UGC, MoE and all the IIC members (faculty and students) of IIC institutions, Innovation Ambassadors (IAs) and student participants of the National Innovation Contest (NIC). 

This new IIC ranking star 4.0 achieved by the IIC of University of Jammu is the highest rating ranking star given to any University in India.

Prof.Parikshat Singh Manhas, President of IIC Jammu said that the setting up of this IIC at University of Jammu was envisioned by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor. He expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his vision and passion to develop the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in the University for the first time.He said, University of Jammu was one of the first universities in the region to set up this IIC.

In his message, Prof. Manoj K. Dhar congratulated Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas and all the IIC team Members for this outstanding achievement. He lauded the efforts of the IIC team and reiterated that IIC, University of Jammu is being supported and mentored by the University of Jammu Special Purpose Vehicle Foundation (UOJPVF) and was trying to foster the culture of innovation and start-up in the University of Jammu in particular and Jammu & Kashmir region as a whole. He briefed that over 100 innovation and entrepreneurship promotion support programs were organized both online and offline to ensure round the year activities on the campus for effective engagement, learning, and practicing both innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the student and faculty community.

Since 2018, IIC University of Jammu has been engaging a large number of faculty, students, and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities such as ideation, Problem-solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling, and management at Pre-incubation/ Incubation stage, etc., so that innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in HEIs. The main motive behind conducting these activities is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform these ideas into Businesses.

Key endeavors are undertaken by IIC, University of Jammu include Parivartan: The Innovation, Incubation and Start-up Ideathon of the University of Jammu. IIC in collaboration with UOJSPVF and NISP has conducted over 100 events on innovation, entrepreneurship, and IPRs (workshops, entrepreneurship development Programmes, webinars/seminars, innovation day celebrations, etc.) Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas briefed that UOJSPVF and IIC also brought top industry and academic experts like Sh. Sonam Wangchuk, an innovator and Founding Director, Student’s Educational & Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), Dr. Unnat Pandit, Director, AIM Programmes & Operations, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Dr. Anil Wali, Managing Director, Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer, IIT New Delhi,  Avinash Pratap Singh, CEO, Waste Warriors, Sh. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, IIT Kanpur, etc. for mentoring the students in the region.
