JAMMU, April 14: Jammu Club, in collaboration with the J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, hosted a successful blood donation camp here today at the Club premises. The event brought together members of the community to contribute to a life-saving cause.
Led by Gaurav Gupta, Secretary of the Club, and supported by esteemed Club members and staff, the initiative saw a remarkable turnout.
During the camp, Gaurav Gupta among 50 persons donated blood. This act of kindness and solidarity has the potential to positively impact the lives of numerous individuals battling thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder.
Er. Sudhir Sethi, President of J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society, Jammu informed that Since blood is the only life line of these patients, blood donation camps need to be regularly held for the thalassemia patients. As human beings are the only source of procuring blood for these patients, the blood requirement is vast growing as many patients require blood donation at least 2-3 times per month. He appealed to the people to come forward to mitigate the sufferings of Thalassaemia Children and prevention of birth of such children by genetic counseling and proper antenatal advice by conducting seminars, symposiums, workshops etc and creating mass awareness in the community.
Gaurav Gupta, in his address, said “Blood donation is not just an act of kindness; it is a lifeline for those in need. Today, we witness the impact of collective action, as each donation represents a ray of hope for individuals battling thalassemia. He highlighted the undeniable impact of collective action, showcasing how each person’s contribution serves as a beacon of hope for individuals courageously battling thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder.
He extended a heartfelt appeal to the community, urging individuals who have hesitated to donate blood in the past to step forward and contribute to this noble cause.
“The success of today’s blood donation camp is a testament to the compassion and generosity of our community,” he said, urging people, especially those who have reservations about donating blood, to reconsider and join us in making a difference in the lives of thalassemia patients.”
He also commended the efforts of Er Ashok Sharma for rallying behind such a noble cause.
