Regretting that successive regimes have neglected Panchari-Moungri belt of Udhampur district, newly elected member of the District Development Council (DDC), Jasvir Singh on Sunday assured that a comprehensive plan for overall development of this belt would be formed very soon.

Addressing his maiden press conference after his election as younger DDC member of the Union Territory (UT) of J&K, Jasvir Singh inhabitants of Panchari-Moungri belt have reposed faith in him by rejecting powerful and resourceful candidates of the mainstream parties. “I will work with dedication to come-up to the expectations of the people”, he said and added that with the support of locals he will develop this neglected belt as an ideal region.

Listing his priorities, Jasvir Singh said developing health, education and road network were his focused areas. He regretted that Degree Colleges were opened in many undeserving areas due to political considerations but Panchari-Moungri belt was ignored. He demanded separate Government Degree Colleges for Tehsil Panchari and Moungri. He also demanded Higher Secondary Schools at Panjar and Gailote. He asked the authorities to develop staff to solve the problem of the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff in the existing schools which should also be equipped with modern equipment like computers. He further demanded NSS, NCC & Bharat Scouts and Guides wings for each Higher Secondary School in his DDC. Priority will be given to introduce NCC, NSS and Bharat Scouts & Guides in all Higher Secondary Schools.

Pointing towards the health sector in this belt, Jasvir Singh demanded up-gradation of the existing health institutes besides deputing doctors and para medical staff. He also demanded opening of new dispensaries in the far-flung areas. He also demanded construction of roads to all untouched areas and a comprehensive policy to maintain the existing road.

Observing that his region has huge tourism potential, Jasvir Singh, who is also young volunteer of Team Jammu, demanded that Panchari –Moungri should be developed as a tourist destination and this area should be connected with a tourism corridor of J&K. He also demanded that all types of sport facilities should be provided to youth of this belt to explore their hidden talent.
