JEE and NEET exam 2020: With students taking to Twitter and demanding the cancellation of the JEE exam and NEET exam scheduled for July, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said NTA needs to submit their recommendations on the matter by tomorrow.

New Delhi, July 2:

As students and parents have taken to Twitter demanding the cancellation of the JEE exam and NEET exam scheduled for July, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that NTA has been asked to submit their recommendations by tomorrow on the matter.

The HRD Minister said on Twitter on Thursday that a commission comprising NTA and other experts have been asked to review the situation and submit their recommendations latest by tomorrow.

While JEE exam is scheduled to be held between July 19 and July 23, NEET exam is scheduled for July 26. A total of more than 30 lakh students are confused about whether the exams will be held on the scheduled dates since the number of Covid-19 cases in India has crossed 6 lakhs.

Students, parents and other concerned people have taken to Twitter and the hashtag #RIPNTA has been retweeted more than 314.8k times in the past 24 hours making it one of the top trends in India.

“I have understood your concerns and we are trying our best to find a solution for the problem as soon as possible,” said the HRD minister in his statement.

“I know there is a lot going on in our country but the government should also think about us, the children who are appearing for NEET and JEE. We are confused about whether to prepare for the exams or not, and whether all this will be postponed or not,” says Delhi-based student Stuti Pandey.

“If it is going to be held, what precautions and safety measures are they going to take to ensure the safety of lakhs of students who are worrying about getting infected? I don’t know what they want to do with our future and lives,” she says.

“We would like to know what the government thinking as sooner as possible….” she adds.

Hopefully, we will get all the answers tomorrow when NTA gives its recommendations for JEE and NEET exams.

Students rejoicing that #RIPNTA worked to bring notice

With the HRD minister’s announcement, students are glad that the government has taken serious notice about conducting the JEE exam and NEE exam amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, students have decided that they will make their voices heard till a final decision is taken to cancel JEE and NEET exams.

can only hope that that commission with NTA and other experts will come to the correct decision by either postponing or cancelling the JEE exam and NEET exams scheduled to be held in July amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
