Jammu, October 13

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (MOS)  in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)today took up issue of easing restrictions on inter-border movement at Lakhanpur with Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.

In a tweet Dr. Singh wrote, “Just now had a word with LG Jammu and Kashmir, Sh  Manoj Sinha ji about the inter-border movement restrictions at Lakhanpur. He has assured me that he will immediately get the issue resolved to the satisfaction of local people.”

The restrictions at Lakhanpur has been a cause of immense harassment to people entering Jammu and Kashmir. There were massive line ups for getting passes into the Union Territory of J&K and adding to these woes were testing norms as per “whims and fancies” of the people incharge

Even when rest of the country had opened up inter-state borders Jammu and Kashmir went on with it. Even now according to latest guidelines people entering Jammu and Kashmir had to wait hours for tests to be conducted at the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir.

Netizens have appreciated Dr. Jitendra Singh’s move to take up issue of easing the restrictions at Lakhanpur to which the state authorities are so far insensitive.
