As economic stress on the industry arising out of the nationwide lockdown forced by the Covid-19 outbreak. Government of J&K has taken proactive pragmatic measures to support industry and public.

Today at the video conference organized by ASSOCHAM, various industries sector related issues were discussed and presented the most recent findings, trends, challenges encountered and solutions. 

The initiative received an overwhelming response from the industry and stake holders with healthy participation.  The interaction was greatly supported by the presence of the senior Govt. officials and industry leaders of J&K.

Webinar was attended by Mr Manik Batra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K CouncilMs. Anoo Malhotra, Director, Industries & Commerce, JammuMr. Mahmood Ahmad, Director, Industries & Commerce, Kashmir & Dr. M A Alim.

Mr Manik Batra, in his opening remarks thanked young & vibrant Directors, Industries & Commerce from J&K for connecting with industry in these tough times & bringing out series of welfare measures in J&K. He told about the CSR activities ASSOCHAM is been doing to combat with industry partners.

He further added that they are constantly giving inputs and suggestions for various measures and glad that the officials of the UT Administration under the leadership of Hon’ble LG Sh Murmu, have always been supportive and have acknowledged our suggestions. 

Ms. Anoo Malhotra, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu said in these unprecedented times, urgency of running of industries is equally important. Keeping this in view, J&K govt. permitted about 1127 industries to be operational by taking specific measure to combat COVID by unit holders. She also mentioned, their team is working hard to help in getting the passes & permissions for unit holders. She thanked unit holders for producing & providing sanitizers, gloves, distributing rations to the state and suggested unit holders to accommodate in house labor as much as they can which will help in the lower down the pressure of DC Offices of issuing of movement passes and will be beneficial for all.

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad, Director, Industries & Commerce, Kashmir, mentioned being a helping hand for the industry, manufacturers of essential commodities, manufacturers of masks, sanitizers, pharma healthcare providers were allowed by them to be operational during first lockdown, to avoid dearth of commodities. Further he added 38 control atmospheric stores (who have apple stored in it) & 1000 trucks for exporting are functional now being Horticulture, the backbone of economy. He also mentioned yesterday, manufactures of carbon boxes, plywood are also permitted to be operational by taking several measures i.e. in house labor, minimal movement, social distancing etc. He also said gradually and slowly no. of operating units are increasing by maintaining protocols within the industry.

They lastly addressed to queries of the attendees in the webinar with great enthusiasm and advised the industry members and professional to make a representation to the concerned authorities to the industry chamber – ASSOCHAM for effective measures required, if any.
