Jammu, May 5: Union Home Ministry on Monday asked J&K and all other states to conduct civil defence exercises against the backdrop of heightening Indo- Pak tensions following April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 dead, on Wednesday- May 7, 2025.
Pakistan, instead of responding to the Indian demand that it should shut all factories and network of exporting terrorism into India, responded with threats of launching a war against India .
The government of India has initiated precautionary measures with regard to civil defence. Normally, such exercises are conducted in apprehension of war.
The ministry said that the states should carry out civil
defence mock drills on May 7 to enhance preparedness in case of hostile attacks.

As part of the exercise, authorities will activate air raid warning sirens and train civilians, including students, on how to protect themselves during emergencies.

Key measures also include implementing crash blackout protocols, camouflaging critical infrastructure, and updating as well as rehearsing evacuation plans.
