The encounter began in the early hours of Sunday in Reban area of Shopian district after security forces launched a joint operation in the area.

Srinagar, June 7:

An encounter broke out between the security forces and militants on Sunday morning in Reban area of Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir. Sources have told India Today TV that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the gun battle.

According to the reports, a joint team of J&K Police, Army’s 01 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Reban.

As the join team approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon the security forces. The team also retaliated, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team of forces and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
