Jammu and Kashmir administration has made it mandatory for govt employees to attend the Republic Day functions at Srinagar and Jammu and has warned that any failure will be considered a dereliction of duty.

In the run-up to Republic Day, Jammu & Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has issued a diktat to government employees to attend R-day celebrations. The failure to attend the ceremony would amount to a dereliction of duty and disobedience of government instructions, as per the order.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has made it mandatory for government employees to attend the Republic Day functions at Srinagar and Jammu and has warned that any failure will be “construed as a dereliction of duty and disobedience of Government instructions”

It is the duty of every government servant to attend the Republic Day function which marks an important turning point in the history of the nation, as per the government order. All the government officers and officials posted at Jammu and Srinagar are therefore required to attend the celebrations, as part of their official duty, read the government order. “Failure to attend the function will be construed as a dereliction of duty and disobedience of Government instructions,” it added.

Also, top officials have been asked to ensure the attendance of the employees in their departments at the functions in Jammu & Kashmir. “All Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Managing Director/Chief Executives of the Public Sector Undertakings are requested to ensure that all officers/officials working under their administrative control, and stationed at Srinagar/Jammu, attend the function at their respective places,” the order read.

The official Republic Day celebrations in the state are slated to happen in Jammu where Governor Satya Pal Malik will preside over the celebrations. In Srinagar, the event will be held at  Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
