Udhampur tops the list of 30 best performing districts at national level

Jammu and Kashmir has beaten all previous records in rural road connectivity under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadan Yojana ( PMGSY) and has ranked third in its overall performance at the national level.


Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand stood at no 1 and 2, while J&K stayed ahead of all other states/ Union territories in the country.


This startling performance can be judged from the fact that J&K completed 3166.76 kms of rural roads in 2020-21 against the target of 3500 Kms. That is more than 90 per cent of the assigned target.
These targets were completed under the JK RRDA ( PMGSY)

The detailed performance report said that J&K connected 119 habitations against the target of 177.
Udhampur District topped the overall tally among the top 30 districts in the country, where 560.49 kms were completed.


Rajouri with 420.25 kms of rural road length stood at no 5 at the all India tally , Doda at no. 11 with 335.71 completed road length , Kathua stood at no. 13, with completed road length of 297 .79 kms and Reasi at no. 28 , with 223.23 kms of road length .
The J&K UT incurred an expenditure of RS. 7661. 45 crore to complete 3167 kms of road length that meant connectivity to 1957 habitations under 2187 schemes completed during 2020- 21.
