JAMMU, Nov 14: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K is hosting 67th National School Games in the disciplines of Judo (U-14 boys & girls) and Fencing (U- 19 boys & girls) from November 15 to November 24 at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.

The Judo events will commence from November 15 and will conclude on November 19, 2023, while the Fencing tournament will begin from November 20 and culminate on November 24, 2023.

While addressing the media persons, Director Youth Services and Sports Subash Chander Chibber said that all the requisite arrangements for smooth and successful conduct of these games have been made and various committees have been framed for holding the event in a most befitting manner.

He said the Department felt honoured to inform that it had recently organised the 67th National School Games in the disciplines of Football and Volleyball at Srinagar, wherein J&K created history to emerge champion in Football and clinched gold, besides bagging bronze medal in Volleyball.

The Director Sports further said that emerging champions in Football and winning third place in Volleyball at Srinagar was an outcome of rigorous training of athletes and transparency and fairness in the selection process.going on in Jammu and the Department is hoping to win a good haul of medals in both these sports disciplines,” said Mr Chibber.

He said for comfort of the athletes and good health of this prestigious event, the players have been lodged at Sarswati Dham and Kalka Dham, nearby to the University of Jammu, the venue of the events.

The Director Youth Services and Sports was accompanied by Joint Director Youth Services and Sports (J), Sh Suram Chand Sharma, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports (C) Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director Youth Services Sports, Planning, Sh Ravi Kumar and Accounts Officer of the Directorate, Sh Sunil Kumar.

Thirty teams of various States/UTs drawn from across the country are expected to take part in this sporting extravaganza. Out of which twelve teams have already reached Jammu.

The participating teams include Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, IBSSO, IPSE, J&K, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kendra Vidhyalay Sangathan, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Navodya Vidhyalaya, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Vidhya Bharti, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, CBSE welfare Sports Organization.

It is pertinent to mention here that the rigorous training of the Judokas and fencers is going on in Jammu under the panel of technical experts in these sports disciplines.
