JAMMU, NOVEMBER 19: On the occasion of World Toilet Day, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organized an extensive awareness program in association with SULABH International India at Channi Himmat. The event aimed at promoting cleanliness, safe sanitation practices and responsible toilet usage. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, community leaders, sanitation workers and officials of JMC.
JMC Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav graced the program as the chief guest. In his address, Dr. Yadav emphasized the importance of maintaining hygienic toilet facilities both in public spaces and at home. He highlighted that proper sanitation is directly linked to public health and plays a vital role in preventing the spread of diseases.
Dr. Yadav also spoke about the ongoing efforts of Jammu Municipal Corporation under the Swachh Bharat Mission, including the construction of modern public toilets, regular maintenance of existing facilities and the promotion of open-defecation–free practices across the city. He encouraged citizens to make responsible use of public toilets and to support JMC’s initiatives by reporting damaged or unhygienic facilities for timely action. The toilets shall be equipped with all the modern facilities such as an incinerator, sanitary pad vending machine, well ventilated, equipped dryers and QR code feedback mechanism.
During the event, awareness pamphlets were distributed and a brief demonstration was conducted on toilet hygiene, waste disposal and water conservation. Sanitation workers were appreciated for their dedicated service and the Commissioner urged the community to work collectively with JMC to build a cleaner and healthier Jammu.
The program concluded with a pledge by all participants to maintain cleanliness, use toilets responsibly and contribute toward a healthier environment. Joint Commissioner (H&S), Abdul Star, Health officer JMC, Dr. Vinod Sharma and other officers of JMC attended the event.
