December 18, 2023, Jammu: In a stimulating session at the Department of Journalism & Media Studies, University of Jammu, a discussion was organised to deliberate on ideas for the Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047 initiative. The event featured Mr. Anmol Nath Bali, Correspondent, from the National Bureau of Aaj Tak and India Today group and Mr. Neeraj from Aaj Tak Jammu.

Mr. Anmol, a seasoned journalist currently working with the India Today group, initiated the discussion by shedding light on the Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative, a Government of India endeavour, aimed at transforming the nation into a developed powerhouse by 2047. He engaged the media students in a thought-provoking dialogue, encouraging them to share their visions and ideas for contributing to India’s development.

Head of the Department Dr. Garima Gupta welcomed the guests and said that industry personnel can foster the budding journalists with their expertise and this academia and industry collaboration can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the media industry as well as positioning the country strongly across the globe.

Key themes explored during the discussion included women empowerment, rich culture and traditions of Jammu and Kashmir, the pivotal role of transportation, gender equality, and challenges related to unemployment. Students and faculty members actively participated, offering diverse perspectives on each topic.

Addressing women empowerment @ Viksit Bharat 2047, students emphasized the need to challenge stereotypes portraying women as weak and powerless. They advocated for creating safe working environments, especially during night shifts, and ensuring easily accessible transportation to empower women for handling their daily lives better.

The discussion also delved into the need of preserving culture and heritage of India @ 2047. Preservation of J&K’s unique cultures and traditions, often overshadowed by historical events was discussed by the students. Students expressed concerns about the lack of governmental initiatives to safeguard the local identities citing the example of Punjab’s successful efforts in preserving their traditions for future generations.

Economic growth emerged as a focal point of the discussion, with students looking forward to startups and initiatives to foster youth entrepreneurship as crucial contributions for Viksit Bharat.

The discussion concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ravia Gupta who said that the event provided a platform for insightful discussions and forward-thinking ideas towards India’s developmental goals.
