Jammu , March 04 Kashmiri Pandit employees working under Prime Minister’s Employment Package have called off their more than 300-day old strike and will be resuming their duties in the Valley .
The announcement for ending the strike was made after the leaders of the community held a meeting with the Relief Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, to find out a way to end the stalemate that had been caused by their sit-in to press for their demand for the relocation of their work place from Kashmir to Jammu . It is not immediately known as to what were the conditions on which they agreed to end the strike, but is is understood that they were prevailed upon by the officials who assured them secure clusters in the Valley and their location in secure towns and cities .
Their salaries , which had been withheld by the government, too, would be released without any cut. The period of their absence will be treated as special leave .
It may be recalled that the Kashmiri Pandit employees serving in the Valley had come down to Jammu from Kashmir following killing of Rahul Bhat, one of the PM package employees in Beerwah in Central Kashmir district of Budgam on May 12, last year.
Now, it is understood that they would go back to the Valley .
