Srinagar, Oct 23: The much-anticipated conclusion of Jammu and Kashmir’s biggest cricket event, the Red Premier League (RPL) 2024, saw Royal Goodwill Cricket Club secure a comfortable 47-run win over Hamdan Hurricanes Cricket Club. Held at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the final capped off a month-long festival of cricket in the region.
Batting first, Royal Goodwill CC set a target of 144/9 in their 20 overs, with steady contributions from their batting lineup. In response, Hamdan Hurricanes CC struggled throughout their innings and were all out for just 97 runs, falling well short of the target. Royal Goodwill’s disciplined bowling and fielding made sure Hamdan never got close, wrapping up the match in a one-sided contest.
Ishtiyak Rasool, the standout player of the tournament, was named Man of the Series after accumulating 300 runs at a strike rate of 150 and taking 14 wickets over the course of the competition. His performances were key to Royal Goodwill CC’s success throughout the tournament.
RPL 2024: A Game-Changer for Kashmir Cricket
The Red Premier League 2024 has set new standards for cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, attracting widespread attention and breaking viewership records with more than 4 crore viewers on social media. For the first time, a cricket tournament of this scale and professionalism was organized in the region, featuring over 240 players, including several from the Ranji Trophy and IPL circuits.
The tournament also showcased exceptional individual performances. Hilal Ahmad was the top run-scorer with 317 runs, boasting an average of 63 and a blistering strike rate of 207. Wasim Raza dominated with the ball, taking 15 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 4.77.

The final was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, with Honourable Satish Sharma, Minister of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, ARI and Trainings, serving as the Guest of Honour.
