One Lashakar-e- Toiba militant was killed in an ambush by army in Sopore area in north Kashmir on Tuesday morning, while another suspected militant managed to gave a slip to the security forces that had laid cordon around the hideout of the militants.
Reports reaching here said that the militants were engaged in an encounter In tarzoo area near Sopore, hotbed of militancy in north Kashmir .
The sources said that one militant identified as Umar of Lashakar-e-Toiba, a group active in the area , was killed. The search operations were continuing till mid-morning.
The army has launched a vigorous anti-militancy campaign on the borders and the suspected hideouts of militants in the hinterland.
